What is LunchNet4Schools ?
LunchNet is a privately owned networking organization. The events are themed for certain sectors such as education and business. The concept is based on sharing ideas so that the best ideas can be turned into business plans or project plans that can then be auctioned off for use in the real business world.
How does it work?
Firstly your school must register with our company. Then you and your team will individually be invited to fill out a registration form to confirm your name and your ideas.
Next you will be invited to discuss your ideas with your teachers and classmates. This will help you to refine your ideas so that it is always improving.
We will then bring some business experts to your school to network with you. This will again give you a chance to share your ideas and also you will be given some professional advice specific to your needs.
Finally, those ideas that are judged to be the best will be invited to a showcase event where parents, the press and businesses as well as teachers and members of your family will be able to listen to your brief presentation and a short video clip explaining your idea and why you think it will work.
What do I have to do?
In the first instance you have to start thinking about a business idea or a project. It can range from selling products such as mobile phones, or jewelry or clothes, to organizing events such as student balls or rock concerts or something that has no commercial value but is still enterprising like rebuilding public footpaths or offering some care in the communitty. The more unique, often the better chance of there being a demand for it … me-too ideas tend to struggle as there are often too many of them about. So be creative!
Once you have thought about an idea, fill out the entry form on the website and start researching. Prepare your ‘elevator pitch’ – that is, a 30 second statement that sums up what your idea is.
Next you will be invited to meet with our experts who will listen to your pitch and perhaps ask you a few brief questions.
Finally, if chosen, you will be coached into delivering a short video presentation in readiness for the prize giving ceremony.
Keep your eye out for television programmes that feature enterprise and/or entrepreneurs.
And last, but not least .... enjoy the ride!
Is there a dress code?
We are interested in your ideas … not your dress sense!
How often are the Networking events?
TBC
Do I have to pay a membership fee?
No! Your school will pay a registration fee for anybody who takes part.
Who are the business experts?
They are people who earn their living out of managing businesses or advising other business managers. Many of them will have a lot of experience in specialist areas such as:
- marketing
- finance
- product design
- managing people
- e-commerce
How will it help me?
“Thinking is the hardest part of any business”.
By getting you to think about setting up your business or social enterprise and helping you to discuss it with your peers, your teachers, your family and finally with business experts, LunchNet4Schools will give you a real taste for business. And … you could even sell the idea!
